The power of SuiteCRM is that being an open source and highly customisable Customer Relationship Management system it allows you to create simple client records, up to workflow-driven custom database systems. It has a healthy community and client base with a series of commercial modules that allow you to integrate with the major online services that business requires.
We have installed and configured SuiteCRM for a number of our clients and while doing so identified that the SuiteCRM Reporting module is pretty good at what it does, however, there are a few things that it doesn’t allow you to easily do. For example, say you hold regular events, you have added all your delegates and want to see how many events each of your contacts attended last year. Due to the way the Attendance information is stored you can’t currently filter only contacts marked as attended in the reporter.
Once installed the module provides a free text box that allows you to add manually crafted SQL to your report. This allows you to further filter by the fields that AOR Reports does not currently allow you to (for example the Events Invite/Acceptance status).
Additionally, the module provides an Analysis mode for the AOR Reports editor, allowing you to view the SQL that will be run. All SQL is cleanly formatted for ease of review.
Our recently released Suite CRM Reports Enhancer Plug-in allows you to add custom SQL to your SuiteCRM reports and view the formatted SQL statement.
While the Advanced Open Reports (AOR) module built into SuiteCRM works well for your basic reporting needs, it does not allow users to do certain functions very easily. Working Options are a charitable organisation who organise and host a series of various workshops for young people (14-18) to help prepare them for entering the workplace. This involves having regular (and recurring) events at schools and colleges, that they were currently managing with a series of spreadsheets, PowerPoint documents and numerous hours of manual calculation. To complicate matters even further all of their staff were home-based and therefore they had no office within which to place a more traditional solution (an access database that they had been offered elsewhere).
After a series of meetings with staff, we implemented the installation of SuiteCRM for them, with a number of custom modules to take away the pain of the manual processing. Hosting it on our secure server network means that they can access the system from wherever they are.
