We are proud to have been involved in this project and to announce that we have launched an official app for one of our valued clients, Reach Society.
Reach Society, a member of the Friendship Network, was conceived by Donald Palmer, Rob Neil OBE, and Dr Dwain Neil OBE, who expressed concerns about the government’s decision to end grant funding for the national REACH role model programme after three years. Each of them had been involved with the programme and had seen its positive impact on Black boys and young Black men, so they knew that something needed to be done to maintain the work transforming young lives.
We have been working with and supporting Dr Neil since 2010. Our latest project for Reach Society is an information-centric app designed to inspire young people in Manchester, Birmingham, Luton, across Greater London, and elsewhere, that offers the latest news about inspirational activities rolled out to showcase cohorts of volunteer role models, exhibitors (from the private, public and third sectors), and expert Black men and women.
The Reach Society app offers the following:
- Overview of key activities such as large inspirational events (careers conferences and employability days); project symbol about the life and legacy of Sir Geoff Palmer; the Durham STEP programme for year 12 Black pupils; the June Windrush Day Thanksgiving Gathering; and the October annual Recognition Awards evening that features the Sir Geoff Palmer Award (for an exceptional contributor to the Black community).
- Profiles of a wide range of impactful people, such as the illustrious patrons, the leadership directors, lifetime fellows of the Society, annual honourees, and a cohort of noble role models.
- In addition, there is an overview of the catalogue of 6 inspirational books written and published by Reach Society.
We look forward to working with Dr Neil and his team to add more updates, content and features to the app as it grows and expands.
